2. Overview

Bondry is a relationship manager for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Data minimalism matters to us: your content stays on your device. We do not operate a server that stores your bonds, contacts or reminders, and the app does not send your content to any server of ours.

Where data does leave your device, it happens exclusively through Apple services that you enable yourself — iCloud sync, place lookup via Apple's map service, and the App Store.

3. What data is processed where

  • App content: bonds (title, date, note, tags, place), contacts (first and last name, relationship, category, phone numbers, email addresses, company, birthday, contact photo, tags, place) and reminders are stored in a database on your device.
  • iCloud sync (optional, off by default): If you enable it during onboarding or in settings, this content syncs between your devices through your private Apple iCloud account. Apple is responsible for the iCloud infrastructure; we have no access to this data.
  • Contacts import (optional): If you grant access, Bondry reads your device contacts locally only, to create Bondry contacts and update existing ones. This also runs by itself when you bring the app to the foreground, so contacts added elsewhere arrive. No upload takes place.
  • Creating contacts in your address book: A contact you create in Bondry is also created in your address book — with name, company, phone numbers, email addresses, birthday and photo, as far as they exist. This happens locally on your device only.
  • Write-back to your address book: If you edit a contact in Bondry that came from your address book, Bondry carries the change over to the corresponding system contact. It does so conservatively: a field is only touched when its value differs, phone numbers and email addresses are only ever added and never removed, and if nothing changed, nothing is written. A phone number you delete in Bondry therefore stays in your address book. This, too, happens locally on your device only.
  • Calendar (optional): With permission granted, Bondry reads events from the calendars you enable, locally, in order to display them and link them to bonds. This includes the names of invited attendees: they are evaluated on the device only, to match an event to a person in your contacts, and are not stored. If you create a bond from an event, that event's title, time and place are copied into the bond; otherwise Bondry only stores a reference to the event. If you assign a person to an event yourself, Bondry stores the event's identifier together with that assignment.
  • Place lookup: If you enter a place for a bond or contact, that search term is transmitted to Apple's map service to be converted into coordinates. Apple is responsible for this.
  • Location (optional): For location-based reminders, Bondry requests the “While Using the App” permission. Whether you reach the stored place is evaluated by the operating system on your device. Bondry does not record your location history and does not transmit it to us.
  • Notifications: Reminders, birthday and stay-in-touch nudges, and meeting-related nudges are scheduled as local notifications on your device. Meeting-related means: the nudge ahead of a meeting with a person you switched this on for; tasks you want to see again before every meeting with that person; and, if enabled, the question after a meeting whether it became a bond. These notifications may contain the person's name and the event's title and, like all notifications, may be visible on the lock screen depending on your system settings. Their content does not leave your device.
  • Home screen widget (iPhone/iPad): The widget reads the database from a shared app container and displays your most recent bonds. This information may therefore be visible without unlocking the device.
  • Usage analytics: Bondry records anonymous, technical funnel events (e.g. “onboarding_started”, “first_bond_created”) — event name and timestamp only, without names, notes or any other content. This file stays on your device; nothing is currently sent to us, and doing so would require your explicit consent.

4. Purchases (Bondry Pro)

Subscriptions are handled through Apple (App Store / StoreKit). Payment and billing data are processed by Apple; we receive no payment data, only the status of your entitlement and aggregated, non-personal sales reports.

5. This website

This website is purely informational. It sets no cookies, embeds no analytics or tracking services, and the fonts it uses are served from our own server — there is no connection to Google Fonts.

When you visit, our hosting provider Vercel Inc. processes technically necessary access data (IP address, time, requested address, volume of data transferred, browser and operating system identifier) in order to deliver the site and ensure its secure operation. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

6. Contacting us

If you write to us by email, we process your address and the content of your message in order to reply. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. We keep such messages for as long as is necessary to handle them and delete them afterwards, unless a statutory retention obligation applies.

7. Legal bases

The content you capture in Bondry is processed by you, on your device; we have no access to it. Where we or services we use process data, the following applies:

  • Access to contacts, calendar, location and notifications: your consent granted through the operating system (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time in your system settings.
  • iCloud sync: your consent given by enabling the feature (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), revocable via the toggle in the app's settings.
  • Providing the app and handling purchases: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
  • Operation and security of this website: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • A withdrawal takes effect for the future; the lawfulness of processing carried out until then remains unaffected.

8. Retention

  • App content remains stored until you delete it — individually, via “Delete all data” in settings, or by removing the app. If iCloud sync is enabled, deletion also takes effect on your other devices; Apple's rules apply to iCloud backups and restore periods.
  • Access data for this website is deleted or anonymised by Vercel after a short period.
  • Email correspondence: see section 6.

9. Sharing with third parties & international transfers

We do not sell data. Processing by third parties only occurs where technically necessary: Apple (Apple Distribution International Ltd., Ireland, and Apple Inc., USA) as platform, iCloud, maps and App Store provider, and Vercel Inc. (USA) as the hosting provider of this website.

This may involve transfers to the USA. Such transfers are based on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or — where the recipients are certified — on the adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

10. Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as the right to withdraw any consent given at any time.

Since we do not store your content on our own servers, you can delete it yourself in the app at any time (“Delete all data”) or remove the app. Permissions for contacts, calendar, location and notifications can be withdrawn in your device's system settings.
